Considering having a NEW filter installed, never having had DE before and coming from regular cartridge. What are the advantages of either Perflex or regular DE over the other?

Considering having a NEW filter installed, never having had DE before and coming from regular cartridge. What are the advantages of either Perflex or regular DE over the other?

I've use both. DE is of course carcinogenic, so take precautions when using it like a dust mask. They all work fine. Much better than a sand filter. Right now I'm using the DE because its cheaper.
