New pool on the way!

Hi,
I've learned a great deal here on this forum (haven't posted much, though) over the past few months. Thanks all!

OK...We made the jump and ordered our ABG pool:

• 15x30 Tahitian 54" (http://www.americasbestpoolsupply.co...1/PageNumber/1)
  • Hayward X-Stream 150 cartridge filter w/ a 1.5hp PowerFlo Matrix pump
  • an additional PowerFlo Matrix 1.5hp 2-Speed pump (to be swapped with the original pump)
  • Hayward Timer for the 2-speed pump
  Hayward 100K BTU natural gas heater
  Polaris 65 automatic cleaner
  AquaLuminator light
  various odds and ends

Has anyone used a 2-speed pump with the X-Stream filter? I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping this filter works well with this filter. If not, I guess I'll have to run it in standard HI speed.

Also, anyone know of any good installers in Northern NJ? The few I've called are not willing to install a pool made by anyone other than Swin-n-Play. This has been my biggest concern so far. But, I'm pretty sure I'll come away with a better pool and components than what I could get from the local pool store.

I plan on posting some updates and photos! :)

Hey Jim, looks like a very nice package. It should all work well for you. I am the only good installer that I know so I can't help you there.:) I do look forward to seeing the photos and updates. Best of luck, Dennis

I live just west of Newark and I don't know of ANY pool companies in the area I can recommend...pitiful, isn't it?

Hi,
During our search for a pool (after getting turned down by our township for an in-ground) we visited several pool stores. We came close to getting a 15x30 from Branch Brook. But, after getting home, I decided to go another route.
A little research got me started in the right direction towards a better pool and better equipment for even less money.

I have the installers list from Branch Brook and several turned me down flat. They would only install pools sold via branch Brook. I did fine 1 who was willing to do it for $1300, sand not included. Decent price?

I have the pool area all level now (did it today with a backhoe and a transit level). Now..I'm getting the stupid notion of installing it myself.....

How do I break it to the Mrs.? LOL

There's a lot of helpful, knowlageble folks here to help you out should you decide to go for it.

Installed a 15 x 30 myself in April. If you've got the site level and cleared that's 90% of the hard work. If you can successfully use a transit, you can successfully do the rest of the job. Your wife will be able to get more than her nails done. Send her to the spa for the day and when she comes home she can swim!

I bit the bullet and hired a company to do the install. Tomorrow is the day....
They are going to charge $1145 for the install of my 15X30 non-buttress. It was the best I found (with a few good recommendations).
