HELP--- Liner is wrinkling
We had our inground pool put in about 3 years ago, and a year after having the pool we can see that the liner is wrinkling and discoloring in the deep end around the drain which seems to be from chemicals. Now this year we see that the liner is wrinkling on the wall under the light in the deep end and also in the shallow end, but not discolored. I went to the pool store and told them and they said that if the alkalinity gets to low that would cause it to do that.. My husband is the one that has been taking care of the pool and he said that the alkalinity has never gotten low. We need your help, we don't know what to do about this... Thanks so much... Kim
Re: HELP--- Liner is wrinkling
I am a brand new pool owner and have developed wrinkles as a result of the liner "floatintg";water behind the liner from either ground water or a leak; when the liner settles back into place it leaves wrinkles. I am having my system checked for leaks ( and repairing if there), and looking into the ground drainage away from the pool ( and correcting). then i will have the pool compnay reset the liner to take the wrinkles out. if it happens again after all that i will just be SO mad!
Re: HELP--- Liner is wrinkling
I had the same problem upon opening our pool the summer after we bought our house. Seems the previous owner didn't keep an eye on the Ph like he should have--the wrinkles were literally all over the floor and walls. (I've since discovered that the acidity of the water for the three years he had the pool also led to rust in the light housing, which I have since cleaned.) We ended up having to replace the liner.

Thank ya'll very much for your reply...... OH MAN!!! Leak, rust, replace the liner. I really don't know what we should do..... Should we get a pool guy out here to look at it? Thanks, Kim

Re: HELP--- Liner is wrinkling
What I am doing is having American leak detection come out and do a full inspection ( $300!). then I will know if I am looking at a aleak or just high ground water; then the pool epole will come out after that and adress whichever issue it is by either 1) fixing the lea, or 2) fixing the water run off near pool or 3) a combo of both and then have them 4) refloat the liner and get the wrinkles out.
Then I will pray it does not happen again.
