I am going to resurface my old disco pool! & Adams pools is recommending we replumb the entire deal. The pool is old from the late 50's /60's & I'm guessing has old pipes. Is this something that could haunt me after I put in this beautiful new Pebble Sheen surface, I have no idea...it's approx $3k extra to replumb all the old pipes. thanks!
h20man: I'll be watching to see the replies to your post. I'm in the same boat. I have an old pool (1964) with plumbing "issues". The pool has been through numerous remodels and I'm not sure what is happening with the plumbing. When I get close to the point where I remodel, I was going to post a similar plumbing question. My main question is: how do you re-plumb an in-ground pool? Dig from inside the pool out or tunnel underneath from outside the concrete deck? And how big of a deal (cost wise) is it? You have a quote for around $2,000 to do yours? If I knew how to include a link to an old post of mine, I could show you how old my plumbing is. I think that it stumped everyone that viewed it. If the pool deck is being replaced at this time then you should replace the plumbing. On older pools if you have one leak others are sure to follow and on some older pools the plumbing was not PVC. Its nice to have new return fitings to plaster around. Replacing your plumbing thru the pool wall will be a little tougher after you plaster and if you do go thru the wall you will have to drain the pool and replaster around the new fittings.
