Sharp coping bricks = ouch!!

For some unknown reason, the coping of my in-ground pool was built using red brick that are *not* bull-nosed; the edges are dead-sharp.

Is there any way to remedy this besides stoning by hand? Special router bit, perhaps?

I had a couple of sharp edges on my bull nose brick. I smoothed them out using a 4.5 inch angle grinder with a diamond blade. It will cut a whole brick in half in about 40 seconds. Very dusty, but you can hose off the mess when done. The 4.5" blade is small enough that you can shape the brick and make circular cuts if needed. Good luck.

You may also want to look into granite/marble installers (the folks who put the bullnose edge on the countertops). Most of that work is done in-shop, but the installers have diamond tipped bits & tools (similar to router bits but larger) that could do the job on site.

yeah i would round it off with a diamond blade and a angle grinder. thats one of the reasons why I didnt want to have real rock i.e. flagstone or what not installed as a coping. good luck

Use a wet diamond polisher like the ones used for polishing pool plaster. This would be the same type of polisher that is used for counter tops as mentioned above. Some stone masons have dry polishing pads for 4" angle grinders. Natural stone can be installed as a pool coping then the sharp edges rounded slightly so they are not sharp, the look of stone without the suit catchers.
