1st Test with PS234 W/ copper test
I just received my new PS234 test kit and these are my numbers:
FC: 1.5
CC: .5
TC: 2.0
PH: 7.6
Alk: 110
Cal: 60
Cya: 50-60
Temp: 82 Degree
Copper (Cu): .15ppm
I have a 18x36 vinyl inground, 24000 gal pool that I installed myself. From lurking in this forum for a while, I know I need to increase my alk (getting baking soda this evening - we have had over 15 inches of rain the past two weeks).
I know I don't have to worry about the calcium level.
My question is - how does my copper level look?
I installed a Frogger mineral system (before I found this forum) and I need to check the copper level so I don't turn hair green.
Am I in the ball park with my thinking?
Thanks for reading
Jeff

Jeff,
I know it's not your question, but you need chlorine in your pool. You should be somewhere around 4-7ppm constantly.
If your CC tests at 1.0 or greater in the future, you'll need about 16-18ppm for a successful shock.
I don't know a thing about acceptable copper levels but I am curious as well....just can't help.

I think your ALK level is fine - I think 90-120 is normal??? Someone can verify. The copper can precipitate out at high chlorine levels (like when you shock - which looks like you need to with the CC reading). Try Jacks Magic before you shock to sequester the metals.
