First Test Results - What to do next
We just finished filling our 24" AG pool only to find that the contractor has installed the filter backwards - drawing water in through the outlet port on the pool - so we can't run the filter. I put in one bottle of 6.5% bleach, here are the results:
FC 3.5
CC 0
TC 3.5
pH 6.8
Alk 70
Cal 90
Cya <20
We will not be able to fix the filter until Monday - what should we do next as far as chemicals are concerned?
Thank you in advance for any help or advice.
Re: First Test Results - What to do next
If you have a "recirculate" setting, use that to keep the water moving. It will bypass the filter and even going backwards shouldn't be a problem.
If your pool is vinyl you need to raise your pH to 7.0. You can use either Borax or Soda Ash (which will also raise your Tot alk which is low). Soda Ash is sold as Washing Soda by Arm&Hammer right next to the Borax. It's not baking soda--different, more caustic stuff.

Thank you for the quick response. I will add some borax to get the pH up to 7.0 and try the recirculate setting.
