home solutions for a 170-0 gal easy set
Can any one help me, I have a 12 ft by 3ft esay set and would like to use home solutions, ie Bleach, Borax and Baking soda in place of pool chemicals.
I know that normal pool chems are chlorine, algae and PH correctors.
In place of the above, what is the daily/weekly/shock using the home solutions mentioned here?
Any comments would be welcomed for a 1700 gal mini pool for a 4 & 8 yr old.
I am a newbie at this.

OK, You need to test for chlorine and pH. To use bleach, you'll find that 1 cup of regular bleach will raise your Free Chlorine (FC, the good stuff) by just under 2ppm (1.93 to be exact, but use 2).
1 cup of Ultra bleach (6%) will add 2.2ppm of FC to your pool.
You'll need a little CYA (Stabilizer) in your water. Use about 1/6 of what is recommended for a 10,000 gallon pool--then half that--you can always add more stabilizer. Desired chlorine levels are based on the CYA level. Check out the "Best Guess Table".
I started with a 15' Intex donut--We used it for 3 years. It was a GREAT way to learn!
