BBB method With Sodium Hypochlorite???
I bought a case of "Shock" from the pool store. I am going to the BBB method. I am just using up some pool store type chemicals first that were left over from last year.
The case that I bought was $10.00 for 4 gallons. each gallon had
15% available chlorine
12.5% Sodium Hypochlorite
Is that better than bleach? Since bleach is 5.25% at just under $2.00 per gal.
Can I use the BBB method and use this instead of the bleach?
Or is this better, since its stronger.
Thanks
Mike
Re: BBB method With Sodium Hypochlorite???
As you have noted, it is the same as bleach, just stronger. If you don't mind handlling the strong stuff more carefully and the price is cheaper per ppm that regular bleach, this is a great way to do BBB. I can get similar chlorine locally for about that price that I know is fresh. That's what I use (unless I run out and it's late, then I go to the grocery store and buy whatever bleach is on sale :) )

It is the same, just stronger. Best value may vary by your area. Sometimes bleach is cheaper, sometimes the stuff from the pool store.
Re: BBB method With Sodium Hypochlorite???
It is bleach.
Sodium Hypochlorite = Liquid Chlorine = Bleach.
As you noted, it's stronger (more likely 10% as it degrades quickly), about twice as strong as "household" liquid chlorine, aka bleach.
If the math works out to be less expensive at the same useage amount, use it :)
