Anyone have luck with covers? I buy a new one every other year and they fall apart! This year i was smart enought to keep my reciept and fill out warranty card. But Ever year, getting it off is a PAIN and stuff dumps in the pool no matter how good i think i have the cover drained. ANyone out there use a net instead of a cover?
After killing my 1st bubble wrap cover in 1.5 seasons. I tried the solar sun rings this year. All things considered, other than the price, I am happy. Time will tell if they hold up better than bubble covers, but after 2 months, they still look like new
When you roll up the cover, you need to cover it to protect it from the sun's UV and from heating up (it IS a greenhouse after all. Therefore you need a pool cover cover. I have a large white plastic sheet with velcro. Poconos uses old bed sheets.

If you are refering to a winter cover...
I am going to get a net to go over the winter cover, this way after the trees do their thing in the fall, I can remove the net and leaves and stuff and reinstall the net only to do it again in spring and hopefully save days of work cleaning the decomposing, smelly leaves off the winter cover before I attempt to remove it.
If you are refering to a solar cover...
I dont have the patience...on..off..on...off

Yes a winter cover. Seems like they are a TON more work than they are worth. Stuff ends up dumping in there when you take it off anyway. Im thinking about just using a net and no cover. Just took cover off yesterday - Right now I am vacuming to waste...gotta get the swamp clean so we can start swimmin!
I had a problem when I opened my pool this year. It was my first winter so I never opened a pool before. I had a ton of leaves on my cover. I learned a few things this year and was able to lend them to my bro in law when we opened his pool.Quote:

- Drain as much water as possible

I like the idea of using the leaf net over the winter cover. I may try that this year but dont want to think about that just yet.:D

Yes, I do all of those things and it is still very hard to get it off and keep the pool clean. I think I will try a net over the cover this year also.
I have a mesh "Loop Loc" cover (it is a different brand, same thing though). The mesh does allow fine grit to enter the pool, but it keeps all the big stuff out.
Come spring, I make sure the cover is tight and above the water level. Left on the pool, it dries quite nicely and I use a leaf blower to blow all of the accumlated stuff right off. It gets wet again when I take it off the pool, but since it is mesh, I just put the folded up cover on some chairs and it air dries, then we put it away.
