Looking to rebuild; Large IG-Pool; Concrete Bottom, Steel Sides = Rust never Sleeps!

When buying this house, I inherited the Pool.
And it was fun for a while, even though challenging to maintain.
I've been here well over a Decade, in Chicago area - so Not the longest season

Note: it's Concrete on bottom, and Steel Sided walls - OK, How is that working out ? well, I need a fix, and have photo gallery at bottom, if you follow the links.

The "Ancient" steel sided walls, would always Rust out and show after Reasealing, priming and painting, even with the Good stuff ( like Olympic ).

After a while, I just stopped putting $$-Money into it, since I didn't have the Time or the Energy.

Steel walls Seems strong, very strong, and holds water quite well. Will this crumble after some time ?
(Besides Resealing / Repainting) What are my other options ? searching for a miracle, here -
*** where ever this leads: to rebuilding, resurfacing, or some other creative solution ***

I've heard that I don't have the type of side / edging that makes a liner easy, and it would be a dream come true to be able to rebuild this pool, so that it's "Almost" maintenance free.


for the record, the whole experience, has been plagued by nearby trees, and a heavy fall of leaves throughout the fall/winter on an annual basis.
This could almost be rectified with a leafnet, or something creative, and there's been some trimming done.

Someone "before me" made a bad choice, and took out the main drain in the Deep end, and re-poured concrete over it; I have compensated for that, by extensively using one of the Dolphin vacuums...

But -- The Pool is Huge: being 17" x 42" -- holds roughly 35,000 gallons of water - and recommended to have it 1/2 full over a winter, to prevent ground shifting,

So I am up for any creative solution: and I know this will Ding my budget, but I have to put that in perspective
I could easily go with a great DIY "big" project, or hire a Company - and I'm sure they do good work.

I'll be preparing for a cover soon, and whatever kind of solution I can plan for Now, or in Spring. Assume it will be partially filled for winter.
