Multiply by 10 or 50?

Just read another post referring to the Wal-Mart 5-way test for hardness. The post mentioned multiplying the result by 50 to get the test result.

I have a Wal-Mart 6-way test by HTH and it indicates to multiply my result by 10 (both for alkalinity and hardness).

Is there really that much difference in these 2 test kits? Is my kit correct to multiply by 10?

I believe the HTH kit is based on Taylor reagents and the multiplier is 10 becuase this kit has better resolution. I don't know for sure but I also think the HTH kit tests for calcium hardness while the Aquachem kit is testing total hardness.
Walmart seems to sell either kit based on geographic area.

Thanks for the reassurance. The HTH kit gives instructions for the "total hardness test" but the last step of the instructions for this test state, in part: "Record as parts per million (PPM) total hardness as calcium carbonate."
