Hayward diverter on EC-65 Perflex

Hi all,
I need a clue.
I need to install a diverter valve on my DE filter. I've purchased the Hayward SP-0727 because that's what was recommended. This is going on an old Perflex DE filter with the stock Superpump. This setup came with the house and I believe it hasn't been modified. But the included directions don't match up with what my setup looks like.
I'm pretty used to plumbing PVC so if that's what I need to do, so be it but it's not stated I should need to.
Anyway, I've included a shot of what I have, and if anyone has already done this I'd love to see a picture of yours.
