My Jandy aquapure 1400 in the display window is giving 171 - 189 code

Hi guys I am new here, my pool was built in 2009, it is a pool and spa total gallons 16,000. It is outfitted with Jandy salt system with a 2HP motor. I am begining to have problem with the chlorinator, on the display window is shows code 171 and 189. The manual say it could be the backboard, I jsut want to hear from others who might have had this same problem before I go purchasing things I don't really need.
