I have a question on pool equipment sizing and more specifically Sand Filters.

My setup came with my house when I purchased it. I have an 18' round above ground pool (approx: 7,646.40 gallons). I have a Hayward (S144t) sand filter with 25 GPM flow rate and a Hayward (SP1580Z2) 1hp pump with a flow rate of 40. Is this sized correctly? From what I read online the pumps flow rate should not exceed the filters flow rate and mine does by almost double. Was thinking about replacing my sand filter and wanted to know if I should switch to a larger model or if the current size is correct.
