First Time pool owner - Service myself or Hire a company that charges 45/m for chems

Hi,

This is a great thread, I am a first time pool owner with about 12000 Gal pool with a 800 Gal approx. Jacuzzi. My pool bottom is plaster and pool is about 20 years old all original. I had helped maintain a pool when i was in grad school and working as a Motel Manager in part time. I can do the research and follow the good advice folks here give out as i am an Engineer by profession.

The pool company previous owner used charges about 45/month for chemical service only and come out every other week to test and balance. Should i use them or use my own kit and chemicals since i will be doing the cleaning myself anyway.
