I am a new pool owner. Like most new pool owners I followed the instructions/advice of the pool stores. After reading more on the internet about the BBB method and proper pool testing I realized I was being led astray. I have very high CYA and CH levels and cant keep free chlorine levels where they need to be. I understand partial draining of the pool and refiling is an option but would like to avoid that if possible.
FC=1
CC=6
PH=7.2
ALK=100
CH=800
CYA=~120
I have discontinued the use of Trichlor tabs and use liquid chlorine, started last week. Was wondering if monitoring and allowing evaporation/refill of pool water would bring CYA back in range and if required chlorine during this time period would be more expensive than partial drain and refill. Refill of pool where I live in AZ would drive sewer rates high if filled during Nov-March. I will update my CYA numbers when I get a chance using the 50% pool water/50% tap water since mine is over 100. Read that good tip today on a pool forum post.
