Changing the weir gate in a Jacuzzi PMT skimmer

Hi - I am new to the forum but have been looking around here for some help with my pool for a while - great site !

I have a few other challenges with the pool (I think I may have a slight leak somewhere but I am using a lot of the great info in other posts on that first and I am currently battling mustard algae). The main problem that I cannot find much info on is the Jacuzzi PMT skimmer (I think that is what I have) which is in a fair state of disrepair - the flapper and other parts that are supposed to distribute suction between drain and skimmer are missing - and the weir gate sticks a fair bit.

In particular the weir gate seems to have lost its buoyancy so my skimmer is not really skimming- I am pretty sure I need to replace the gate but am rather worried about damaging the skimmer when I remove it. Does anybody know how to remove the weir gate ?

Do a search on Jacuzzi PMT skimmer and you will find out more info and were to buy parts online.

Your skimmer weir may have a spring release or a plastic tab release on one side of the weir on the back. Hope this helps.
