Help Please...Pump is kicking on and off??

Hey there,

Just installed the Pentair Superflo High Performance Pump and it keeps kicking on and off? I read somewhere to clean out the check valve but I don't see one?

Any help greatly appreciated. It is not tripping our breaker...

It's not a 'check valve' problem; it sounds like the motor's thermal overload is kicking out, and then resetting when the motor cools.

CAREFULLY, put your hand on the motor (very careful -- it may burn you otherwise). If the motor is very hot, then you've probably identified WHAT is happening, but not WHY it's happening.

Possibilities include low voltage, worn bearings, changed plumbing, and more.

One more common problem: trash, leaves, etc blocking the air vents on the motor can cause the motor to overheat and cycle on and off.

Can this motor be wired for either 120 or 240 volts? If so, and you have 120v going to the pump, make sure the motor connections are configured for 120v and not 240v.
