Cover for disabled Popup Holes?

I have disabled (removed) my popup valve as well as the popup heads (they were the old toe-stubber type). The system didnt work very well and the parts costs will kill you. My pool is now kept amazingly clean by a Hayward Navigator.

Has anyone found a source of grates, perforated plugs etc for use to cover the HOLES left by the popups? I know this is the water return so they can't be completely covered...I am just looking for something so little feet, toys, debris etc don't get down in the holes.

The makers of the popups will sell "dummy" popups for about $50 which seems ridiculous.
