Salt water pool great but damaged my aluminum ladder anchors
I have a inground pool that is 8 years old. I had it installed with a Hayward aqua rite chlorine generator. When my pool was installed the builder used aluminum fittings for the ladders.
Over the past few years the concrete around the the ladder fittings has begun to crack, a couple of spots are pretty bad. I haven't been able to get any answers on how to minimize the damage and the pool builder went out of business. I was tempted to get away from the salt system all together if this will stop the damage.
Just looking for some advice. Thank you.
Re: Salt water pool great but damaged my aluminum ladder anchors
Salt and aluminum are NOT compatible -- but aluminum ladder anchors have ALWAYS been a bad idea. All chlorinated pools contain salt, and most aluminum anchors deteriorate after a few years, with or without salt.
It sounds like the damage is already done, in your case, and it's too late to 'stop it'. The only solution is to hammer them out, and replace them with bronze anchors, like these:Bronze ladder anchors @ Amazon

If I take out the anchors now I will have to get a couple of sections of concrete broken up and re poured. I guess I just have to live with it.

That would look best.
But you can simply cut out a rectangle about 36" by 8".
