Does the thickness of solar cover matter
I know that folks said to buy the cheapest since none of them will last anyways. But I read that 16mil compared to 8mil will retain heat better. Does this matter? Will it make a big difference?
Also, where is a reputable online seller to buy covers and other supplies from?
thanks
Re: Does the thickness of solar cover matter
I don't think the thickness of the plastic makes much difference in heat retention; it's the air in the bubbles that insulate and the membrane that stops evaporation. Thicker plastic may be stiffer and easier to move on the water, it will also be heavier off the water.
Re: Does the thickness of solar cover matter
I once thought the thicker cover would help...and last longer. It did neither. I've decided they are a waste.
Re: Does the thickness of solar cover matter
I usually just buy whatever they have at Lowe's. Typically get about 3 yrs out of it before having to replace it.

Lowes??? They sell covers like these?

My local Lowe's has a section with some pool stuff in the summer. Not a huge selection; just some basics. I think I have bought 2 or 3 solar covers there.
