Pool cleaner hoses

I have a Hayward Ultra Vac that I've used for about 6 - 8 years with no problems. Late last year I noticed the vacuum hose seems to sink to the bottom of the pool and get in the way of the vacuum, as it travels around. The only cause I can think of, is that the hoses are water logged,....does that sound right ? The pool is an in-ground with vinyl liner.
