Cya too low going to take care of that first. Been using TRI-Chlor tabs and will continue to do so until I run out of those (supply won't last season). looking for recommendations for lowering phosphates to a more reasonable level (100?) as I have been told they can be fodder for algae growth. Pool is 25k concrete/plaster
How does your water look? Phosphates typically cause no problem but are a thing that pool stores try to sell remedies for. Continue your plan to use trichlor for a bit until you get your CYA up some but keep an eye on the pH since trichlor is very acidic. Keep your chlorine at the appropriate levels based on your CYA readings (see the Best Guess Chlorine Chart in my signature below) and you should be fine.

Thanks, Water was a bit cloudy on opening but looks nice and clear now. Just worried about high phosphates and algae as it seems I always get some at some point in the season.
If you keep enough chlorine in there based on the Best Guess Chlorine Chart and don't let it drop below the minimum level, you should never get algae.
