Pool and Spa ___ Same Water to both?

I have the typical inground pool/spa combo that share the same pump/filter/heater skid. I can isolate either the pool or spa if desired.

My question is should I use the same water (chemistry wise) for the spa as I do the pool? Or does the spa water require different sanitation & stabilizer levels?

Note I do not have a cover for the spa or pool YET!

Kinda depends on whether you want the spa to be warmer than the pool!

If you normally run the system in spillover mode and isolate and heat the spa when you want to use it (the most usual setup) then the water chemistry is the same for both.

LOL Yes but with 100+ summer temps it may be tough to keep the pool cooler than the spa!

Yes that is what I want my standard procedure to be...

Thanks for the help, I will maintain the same chemistry for both.

In that case just test and balance the water when in spillover mode (after it has circulate for a few hours) and you are good to go. IF the spa gets very heave use (such as at a party) you might want to shock it and let it circulate for a bit before switching back to spillover mode.
