Hayward DE Filter Blew top of Air Release valve off??????

Hello All,

This morning my pool was running and pressure was fine. Everything sounded normal in it's running.

Went out a few minutes later and the top of the Air release valve had ripped / blew off. This looked like is was a solid piece and the top just blew off.

Have you ever seen this???

What would have caused this??

History: DE filter (7 yrs old) was completely cleaned in April 2013.

Is this merely fatigue or could it be other issue I need to check. No issues.

I did call Hayward tech support, but the person I got was nothing more than an order taker and was no help.

Not that this is helpful, but, did you find the other part? How far was it? Imbedded in something?
