Pump Motor Problem

I opened my pool yesterday and ran the pump for an hour or two yesterday. I didn't have time to backwash, so I turned it off.

Today, the pump motor repeatedly tripped the circuit break or overload/overheat breaker after less than a minute of operation (it seemed to move water just fine). It sounded wrong and I thought that it sounded wrong yesterday. Anyway, I reset the circuit breaker a few times but it kept happening. I replaced the pump motor in 2002. I figure that after 11 years, my best bet is to replace the pump motor (the pump itself is fine and I replaced the impeller two years ago). Any reason not to take this approach?

Meanwhile, the pool is green for a week. I'm unhappy about it but I can live with it.
