Crack in In-Ground Pool Wall
I went out this weekend to do my springtime inspection (Eastern Ontario) to be greeted with an 18 inch crack and torn liner on one side of my in-ground pool.

Pool came with the house when we bought so I am not sure on it's construction, but it looks like plastic abs wall. Vinyl liner (which needs to be replaced due to age and other wear and tear).
I have some extra liner that I can use to repair the liner, but is it possible top repair the crack? If so what is the recommended method? DIY or contract it? Or is this a bigger issue?
Cheers
Chris
Re: Crack in In-Ground Pool Wall
It appears that the structural polymer (plastic) wall of your pool is cracked. This is a SERIOUS issue. The real repair involves excavation, and replacing that section of the wall.
You *may* be able to patch it by epoxying over the crack, and replacing the liner. Whether this is possible depends on at least 2 factions:
1. Will epoxy adhere to the wall? (If the wall is polyethylene based, the answer is "No!".)
2. Is the cracked caused by past movement, or by on-going movement. If the latter, then any patch will fail.
