Hayward PS-8 Programming

All equipment is Hayward; 2 speed pump, PS-8, heater, sense & dispense, etc. FOUR electrically controlled valves. Hayward PS-8 documentation is REALLY poor.

I am unsure if the PS-8 is even capable of doing this. The valves need 2 settings; filter and backwash. During filter, 2 of the 4 valves are closed and 2 open. During backwash, this is reversed, the first 2 are open and the second 2 are closed.

I have the pump wired to aux 5 and 6 relays as there is confusing information in the manuals about using aux1,2 with valves 1,2

Can you offer any guidance on controlling the 4 valves? I was going to use a group function but wanted the pump shut before initiating motion on any valve and then have the pump restart when the valves are positioned. ANY HELP IS SINCERELY APPRECIATED.

I have spoken to local Hayward dealers but it is obvious that they have not done this before.
