Re: Deck heave and settling
I'll be interested in any responses you get--my concrete decking is settling, too, after 11 years. Think the earthquake we had about 2 months ago and the very dry drought conditions from last year helped. It's not bad yet, but it's getting there.
Re: Deck heave and settling
I've replied to a couple of other threads dealing with this very thing.
What will help, is pics from both of you. I find it difficult to help without some sort of visual reference.
Re: Deck heave and settling
I'd do as Charlie suggested and post a couple of pics - just so we're all on the same page. I'm not sure if concrete 'jacking' is a viable option but I've ripped out and replaced hundreds of square feet of decking and will be happy to advise you on the project.
Re: Deck heave and settling
I don't see the option of attaching an image as the forum FAQ's mention. How do I post a picture?
Re: Deck heave and settling
Upload it to a free image hosting site such as flickr.com or photobucket.com (or another). Then get the url for that image from the site you uploaded it to, and click the "picture" icon at the top of the posting form here. It will prompt you to enter the url that you got from the other site. Alternatively, I believe you can email them to poolforum at gmail dot com with a link to this thread and pooldoc can add it for you.
Re: Deck heave and settling
I sent a photo to pooldoc. It shows the worst section where I cut away the deck o seal (which had mostly separated from the soping) to show the gap.
Re: Deck heave and settling
Ben has been away from the forum for a few days but should be back next week. Of course, days off result in him being swamped when he does return. If he doesn't get your pictures posted within a few days, bump your thread back up to remind him.
