Fighting algae, too.

I am presently fighting an algae issue and have found this message thread helpful. Please forgive the newbie question, but at would point does the cost of trying to clean the existing pool water outweigh simply draining and refilling the pool with new water? Or will refilling the pool with new water not solve the problem?
