Testing high chlorine levels
I shocked my 15k vinyl pool about a week ago - ran tests today and all levels are within range except I can't test my chlorine level still because my test kit (Leslie DPD) only goes to 5ppm. Can I somehow us a larger sample or different method to measure higher with this kit until I can get another one?
Is it ok to swim with high chlorine levels? (I guess I thought wrong when I figured the shocked level would dissapate in about a week).
CL ??
PH 7.3
Alk 80
Cal 90
CA 45
Thanks for your help.
Re: Testing high chlorine levels
dilute your test sample by mixing equal parts of pool water and distilled water and multiply the results by 2. If the test is still above 5, use 2 parts distilled and 1 part pool water and mutiply the result by 3 etc.
With 45 PPM CYA, I'd probably let the kids swim below 15 PPM Cl, but I'd have them wear their old faded suits until the Cl was below 10 PPM.

Thanks for the input - I'll do that. Kids are currently enjoying the pool today for the first time this season!!
