Hi, and welcome to the forum!!
Did you have a question that you wanted help with?
Re: New Member Information
No, not right now. Just getting the account activated.
Thanks in advance.
Re: New Member Information
I'd like to add my welcome and ask you a question. I see your pool is powered by a GFCI receptacle, is there a reason you didn't install a GFCI breaker instead?
Re: New Member Information
Sure, the GFCI receptacle is less than $10.00 and the breaker would cost more than $20.00. The receptacle is a dedicated outlet for the pump motor only mounted on the exterior of the house with an in use cover. The motor came with a #12AWG cord and plug attached. Also, 12/3 romex is cheaper and easier the install than conduit, a junction box and sealtite flexible conduit to the motor.
Re: New Member Information
Thanks, code here requires dedicated circuit, GFCI breaker, twist lock receptacle, and a cord on the motor 3 feet or less so we didn't have a choice.
Re: New Member Information
Is that a city code or county code? The National Electrical Code (NEC, NFPA - 70) allows both types of installation.
Personally, I would want to know why they were making me purchase more expensive equipment.
