Low Calcium Hardness - How to increase ?????
I've read the posts whi talk about low calcium hardness and not to worry as much as long as you do not have a concrete pool. The posts also indicate that the real danger excsively high cakcium hardness. But none of the previous posts address the effect that low calcim hardness may have on conrete ( either regular or stamper/decorative) around the pool.
My Calcium Hardness level is 97 vs. the 200-500 PPM recommended range.
Question?
1. Will low levels present harm to my decorative concrete surrounding my pool?
2. What is the best additive to increase the hardness?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Re: Low Calcium Hardness - How to increase ?????
Low CH can cause damage by leaching calcium out of plaster, concrete, tile, stone, and so forth. You increase CH by adding calcium chloride, sold as deicer at hardware stores, or with calcium hardness increaser sold by the pool store.

Or, you can use cal-hypo as your source of chlorine for awhile as it will also add calcium at the same time.
