Triton II filter - where does air relief tube go?
I was getting some sand back into my pool, and tore apart my Triton II filter yesterday. I removed the sand, thinking I might have a broken lateral. All the laterals look fine, though, but the air relief tube was just hanging down inside the filter. The top was attached to the diffuser, but I'm pretty sure the bottom of the tube was not attached to anything. Could this be why I'm getting sand in my pool below the returns? Should the bottom of the tube attach somewhere?
I'd like to get the thing reassembled today. I may unscrew all of the laterals to check for any damage just to be safe, but they all look and feel OK (I ran my fingers along the outside of every lateral). I'm wondering about the tube, though.

I'm not familiar with that design. Others here may be able to help.

From this parts diagram below, tube 9 connects to fitting 12 and yes, if not connected, it can cause sand to enter the pool.

Yes, reattach the top to the tube and thread the tube into the diffuser and sand. Keep the screen above the diffuser. I had the same problem. It's an easy fix.
