Red Pool is Now Sparkling

Greetings, just bought a foreclosure house, with beautiful new gunite pool. Except pool was covered in 1/4" thick RED algae. It's my first pool and I thought for sure it was a goner. Never thought the gunite would be white again. Yet here I sit, after 3 days of scrubbing, 6 bottles of chlorine, 1 Gal of Muratic Acid, and every muscle in my body aching, a thankful man with close to perfect water numbers. It wasn't easy, but following the expert advice found on this forum I now have a Sparkling Gem of a Pool. Thanks to all who contribute to this great Forum. I can now go forward with confidence through knowledge. Thanks for saving me from the pool store trap!!!

Congratulations for not falling into the pool store trap and doing your homework!! Glad you got the mess cleaned up--and it'll be amazing how much easier it is to keep it clear than to let it go and then have to clean it up again! :)

Yes, fixing a problem is far harder than maintaining a clean, problem-free pool. You'll be amazed at how easy and cheap it is!
