Pool vac results

I needed to change out a very old Hayward vac. My pump is a itelliflo vf pushing about 32 gal per minute. This keeps operating cost way down. I thought based on reviews the baracuda mx-8 was a solid looking vac. When I got it home it hardly moved at all, even if I upped the 2000 rpm to 3000 rpm. I returned it and got a Hayward XL. It scoots along great at 2000 rpm doing a great job. Did I get a faulty Baracuda ? I don't know. I do know that the system is rolling great right now.
