Diving board base corrosion - repair or replace?

I have corrosion to my diving board base and springs. I can sand blast and paint these for ~$150, but I'm uncertain how long they would last before corroding again with the salt water from my pool. On the other hand, for 4 times the money, I could replace the steel base and springs with Salt Pool equipment (S.R. Smith part # 6920962) which doesn't corrode (I assume it's fiberglass).

I'm interested in saving some money and repairing my old equipment, so can someone give me some pointers on paint/coatings that may stop corrosion of my old base and springs?

Or, is repairing the steel equipment a waste of time, and I should go ahead and replace it?
