New to forum, low pH, high chlorine
I'm new to this forum and have been granted the privilege of regulating our daughter's pool at her new home. She just opened her pool recently, and she had a green algae swamp. Right now, the pH is low, and the FC is high after shocking (algae is almost gone after vacuuming the crapola out of it). Her pool is 20,000 gal with a vinyl liner. I'll post test results this evening.
Re: New to forum, low pH, high chlorine
Dealing with algae, you'll need to know stabilizer (CYA) levels, as well as chlorine and pH.
You should avoid adding stuff other than bleach, acid and borax if at all possible.
Re: New to forum, low pH, high chlorine
We'll need a little more specific test values than that.
If I were to take a Wild-Assuming-Guess, I'd guess she'd been using only chlorine pucks...and, as Ben suggested, Stabilizer would be really, really high.
