Inground AG pool questions
Greetings,
I have a few questions about AG pools. First of all, I am looking at the Aruba resin based pools, most likely circular due to space requirements. I understand they make a good product, yes?
Secondly, I want to place the pool into the ground...preference dictates the full depth and build a sourround deck. I understand greatly the need for a flat, fualtless base. What I would like to know is what have those here whom have performed this used as an underlayment? Sand, DG, etc. What about drainage? French, etc. Placement of pump, etc since the pool in now in the ground.
Lastly, when placed into the ground, how is the interaction of the earth and pressure against the pool sides?

Not an expert but I did something like this with a regular steel wall pool 20 years ago and just now will need to replace the wall part. I did add a coat of house roof coating to the outside of wall that was underground. I had 2 ft. above the ground that I built a deck around and had pump under deck with a trap door. I have heard that the resin pools could last longer but are not as strong.
Dug hole added 4" sand, hand tamper to compact some, then 1 1/2" thick patio concrete block around perimeter. Dug hole about 6" wider than pool and backfilled around outside of pool with sand. If ground ever did move it was either the water pressure or the sand on outside gave a little, but never a problem besides rusting on inside. Base has held up great, I had to last year patch a hole in the wall but it rusted from the inside out. And water pressure keep the ground from ever pushing in.
With mine 2 ft was out of the ground so I could get to all plumbing if ever I needed to and made it easy to replace liners with the overlap style. the pump was below the skimmer. Your will be below pump so you will need a inground pump or self priming pump.
After 15 years did replace pressure treated decking with the new composite decking which I strongly recommend. Also deleted the orginal pools top rail and made new one out of the new decking to match.
