Trying to decide between the intelliflo vs and VS+ SVRS

I am replacing a Hayword super pump because its shot three years after installation and I now despise the brand. Looking for something quiet and efficient. I have narrowed it down to the above but was hoping for some insight before I pull the trigger. The hayword's bearings are shot, it is running, but would like to both use the pool this weekend and replace the pump as the noise is deafening.

Apprcidate any insight.

I am in NJ, and use the pool june through sept mostly on weekends. Run on a timer during the week for 6 hours and pool is ~40k gallons.

The quietest pump you can get will be a two speed, running on low.

Not sure why you had problems with the Hayward Super -- it's an old model and generally VERY reliable. Not the greatest efficiency, but excellent suction and self-priming capability. I've got a Super running on a 6,000 gallon kiddie pool -- it's been run dry half a dozen times (pool leaks, guards are slackers) but still works fine after 4 years. It's fairly quiet on high, but runs on low all winter and during the summer after July 4.

Anyhow, I'm personally not a fan of the new "super-efficient" pumps. It's been VERY hard to get the actual flow / pressure / amps data that would allow apple-to-apple efficiency comparisons. Usually, when such data makes the sales case in a big way, the marketing department will basically air drop it all over you. But, when you can't get it . . . usually that means that it does NOT make the sales case.

And the simple fact is: complicated and new = less reliable. So, I wouldn't want one of those pumps on a pool I had to service.

Sounds like you have narrowed it down to two from the same manufacturer. In case you are still open to other brands, I purchased a two-speed Pentair Whisperflo almost 4 years ago. It is quiet as can be on low speed and provides more than enough power on high speed for the vacuum.
