DE Filter pressure rising high, no water in pump

I'm not really sure what is causing my problem but I am fighting my annual green pea soup problem and I'm at the point where I can see the bottom of the pool now.

However, my DE filter starts out with a pressure of about 5-7psi and rises to 18-20 in about 1-2 hours and the flow of water is stopped.

I can bump and start again with a pressure of 5-7 for another couple hours and then the pressure rises and the water flow is stopped again.

I am battling a small suction side air leak somewhere that is causing some bubbles to show up in my return jets and pump basket lid. Is this air eventually overwhelming my pump with air or is it because my de has caught enough algae to have to be bumped?

I cant even run my pump overnight because after a couple hours the pump is just running but its not filtering water and I'm wasting electricity.

If you have pea-green soup, chances are REALLY good that your filter is just catching enough algae to stop it up. Can you post some numbers for us?

Ok i figured that but Im finding that I really didnt know much the possible issues my pool could be having.

I'm going to test tonight but over the last week ive brough the pea soup to a semi clear pool and I can now see the bottom clearly. Hopefully my filter can run through the night without needing a bump.

You may want to open it up and give the screens a good cleaning ... then repeat once you clear your pool up.
