Is one type of liner as good as the next one

I strongly suspect that most of the liners are made by a few manufacturers. Both my liners were put in by different installers, but were ordered from the same company. What I have found, though, is that the warranties are different from company to company, so that would play a large part in my decision if I were buying another one.

Some liners are 20 ml thick on bottom and sides, some are 28 ml on bottom and 20ml on sides, but overall I think the difference lies in the warranties. Honestly, if something's going to tear through 20 ml, I don't think that extra 8 ml will make any difference!!

Watch out for the term 'gauge' instead of mil!

I know there is a thread here on it (I believe Al was a participant) - I simply haven't the time to do a search right now:(

Yeah Ted. I remember that from a long time ago. I think it was around the time Watermom was shopping for a liner. I'll see if I can find that thread.

Edit: dug through the archived threads and found nothing yet, only that it was replaced in 2006.

Edit again: This is a good time to revisit this so if anyone has definitive info please chime in. From a little Googling and mind jogging I think the pool industry uses 'gauge' and 'mil' interchangeably. What threw me back then is this is not the way wire sizes and metal thicknesses are sized. In those cases the higher the gauge the thinner the metal or smaller the wire.

thanks 4 the info also i have an overlap would it be a lot of trouble to switch to a unibead liner because i am having trouble finding overlap 4 a 54" wall.
