I think I had the first page on the internet about the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide (aka hydroxl acid, etc.) . . . but my older son checked recently and found that some other people had earlier versions in print. In the process he found this rather amazing Penn & Teller clip in which they have an assistant carry a petition around at an environmental rally.

Caution! There's is some off-color language that is NOT approved here on the PF.

If you're OK with that, take a look. It's pretty enlightening:

I saw that too and posted about that here (http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/showthread.php?p=59222&postcount=69) in the classic thread Sodium Hydrogen Chloride OH NOES!! (http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/showthread.php?t=2619) which soon moves to a discussion on dihydrogenmonoxide. It's a fun read.

(I noticed that the thread was started by Michael Smith who created PoolCalc and that his ID, mwsmith2, is "**Banned**" which seems strange.)

I did that, after he re-registered under a different user ID. I asked him which he wanted to keep, and he didn't reply, so I banned the old one.

I'm thinking of taking the W.C. Fields view of DiHydrogen Oxide....:p
