We just got a new house with a 7500 gal above ground vinyl pool. It was dark green and murky so we drained, cleaned, and refilled. Just tested it and the total hardness was 1000. I have heard that that is not good, but don't know how to fix it. Also, the total alkalinity is 180. How much acid should I add? And do I need to adjust all this before I add chlorine? Thank y'all in advance.

Can you post a complete set of current water testing results taken with a drops-based kit (not test strips)? I would also retest that calcium hardness and make sure your result is correct. As for your question about doing all adjustments before adding chlorine ---- not unless you want a green pool again!

Welcome to the Pool Forum!

BTW -- You are lucky your liner is OK. Draining a liner pool totally is a no-no! It can sometimes ruin your liner and make it unusable. I'm glad in your case it seems ok.
