About a week before I was going to open my pool, I noticed sand washed out from about 3/4 of the way around the pool. Peeking under the winter cover, I found the bead liner had fallen off all the way around, except where the skimmer held it in place.

I found a hole in the floor of the liner and repaired it. (How it got a hole, without being used, covered wth a winter cover?) The sand around most of the perimeter had washed out. I guess as the sand washed out, the liner was pulled down by the weight of the water, causing the bead to dislodge.

Replaced the sand, but cannot get the liner back without wrinkles on the florr. Tried the shop vac, but it still has wrinkles. Been messing with it periodically for a couple weeks, without success. I put this liner in, so I have a little experience replacing liners, and it didn't present the problems when new, that its giving me now.

Is it possible the liner stretched down into the troughs caused by the sand washing out, that the liner will never fit properly?

Did you drain your pool to do these repairs? Once a liner is emptied, it is usually ruined and cannot be re-used.

One of our members who is more knowledgeable about installations and/or repairs will be along shortly. But in any case, just wanted to welcome you to the forum.

Between the hole, which started draining it, and the liner walls collapsing into the pool, the pool was drained when I discovered the damage.

It appeared to be okay about a week prior, when I last mowed my grass. I was mowing when I discovered all the sand around the pool. Pool went all winter without a noticeable problem, even surviving the blizzards, then this happened.

I hate to say it, but it looks like you're gonna be liner shopping. :(:(

Bought a new liner yesterday. Put it in this morning, and that seems to have made the difference. Had a fit getting the new liner hung, as it kept falling down, even when duct taped. (Installed it by myself) But, it finally relented, and let me hang it. Filling the pool now (garden hose), and it's looking pretty good so far. Have a few inches of water in, and the few small wrinkles are disappearing under the weight of the water and a little encouragement.

Thanks for your input...it helped convince me to go ahead and get a new liner.

I bet it looks great! Hard work doing it by yourself though. Smooth sailing from here on out! Congrats, enjoy and ........ you're welcome! :):)

Did you put a plastic sheet under the sand and tape it up the walls of the pool?
That will help prevent washout of the sand.
