We purchased a 24' round 54" high Artesian Echo Canyon above ground pool. This is a steel pool with resin base, uprights and seats. It was suggested by a friend that we pour a concrete pad with the styrofoam on top as a base for our pool. My husband pours concrete for a living so we would not be contracting this out. We have heavy clay soil here. He and a friend are going to do all of the installation. Do any of you have any opinions or thoughts on this?

Have you already installed the pool? If not, bumping this back up so that maybe somebody can still pop in here and offer an opinion for you. Welcome to the forum by the way!

No, the pool hasn't been installed yet. Everything is here except the liner. I even got my Taylor k-2006 test kit yesterday. Hubby is buying the material to start forming up the concrete pad as I type. He has his mind made up;). I am looking forward to getting it all up and running. Thanks for the warm welcome.

You're welcome. Good for you for doing your homework and reading a lot before you installed the pool and having that good test kit so you can use it from the get go. Keep us posted how things are going!
