Has anyone had any experience using said borders?

I have a vinyl in ground pool, 16' by 32' with about 25,000 gallons.

My liner is cracking above the water line, only on the side where the sun hits the liner directly. At this point, I just cant see putting in a new liner when the other three sides are pristine.

My concern is sticking to the old liner and the product thickness. I would think 15 to 20 mil would be more than adequate as I will need to do some fitting around the two corners which were not done correctly by the last installer. I have a six inch radius and said installer threw in a liner with a 12 inch radius. This was done before I bought the property or I would have had it redone properly... sigh...

When the liner showed its first crack I did a repair with a glue on patch, trimmed corners etc. and this patch failed. perhaps because of again, the direct sunlight, perhaps? I cleaned the vinyl really well so it was not dirt that caused that failure.

Thanks for any help, guidance or wisdom re this or any similar product.

FYI, I am a retired plumber/pipe fitter by trade and have installed many commercial pools so with that, I will be glad to help out with piping queries, pump sizing etc.

Thanks In advance,

Rick

I know this is gonna sound stupid, but at the beginning of last summer I found about a 3-4 " horizontal tear above the waterline. I patched it with a piece of duct tape, which coincidentally blended in with my liner pattern color to the point where friends that swam with us daily didn't notice it. The tear was in the corner that got the most direct sun, like yours--and once the duct tape got hot for the first time, it was next to impossible to remove--it held through that summer, through the winter, and was still stuck in place when I got more tears and then holes in the bottom, requiring me to replace the whole thing this past spring.

Unfortunately, my liner installer told me that the first tear is a sign of probably the last year of the liner life--which was true in my case. Maybe it'll be different in yours.
