Happy Memorial Weekend and thanks in advance for your assistance!! I'm brand new to pools and finding people to be very helpful. Kind of like owning a jeep, it's a pool thing.
Here it is. Pool has been open for 6 days. Chlorine is good 3.0, ph is borderline high 7.8. Water is CLOUDY. Filter has been running for 4 days with no change. Clarifier hasn't made a difference. Now what?

Hi and welcome! First of all, don't add anything else to your pool yet other than chlorine when needed. Post a full set of complete water testing results and let us look at them. Use a drops based kit -- no test strips. Walmart sells a 6-way kit that will test what we need for the time being until you can buy a good kit. We recommend a Taylor K-2006. Repost with more numbers and more specifics about your pool and pump/filter and somebody here can help you out.
Also, tell us exactly (ingredients -- not just "shock") of what all you have put in your pool thus far.

Just to clarify, what Watermom is asking for is drop-based readings for:
Free chlorine
Combined chlorine (if you have it available--a pool store test should give you this)
pH
Total Alk
CYA (same as stabilizer)
Calcium Hardness
If you don't have a test kit immediately available, you can take a sample to the pool store and get it tested, JUST DON'T BUY THE LIST OF STUFF THEY'RE GONNA TELL YOU THAT YOU NEED!
Welcome to the group!!
