While meandering through the membership list this morning I noticed many many logins over the past day or so, people clicking in to check new posts, maybe, or just checking in to see what's happening.
It would be great if everyone who's stopping by would just leave a little track, a 'hello, a smiley face, a note to say, 'Hey, I'm still here, how's it going?'
How is your pool? Did it make it okay through the winter? Bogged down by pollen? Can't wait for the water to be warm enough to get in? Looking to spend a little time with some old friends?
This would be the place :)

What a nice idea!
We 4 mods are all still here. aylad is having issues with her liner and filter. Poconos and I have not yet opened our pools. It's been SO cold this month that I'm 2 weeks behind and don't even care! My goal each season is to get my pool open May 1. Not happening this year.
My Blue Diamond after several years of great service started leaking oil and I procrastinated, and it was buried under the snow, and, before I knew it, I had no time to get it repaired. Then I found that LeisureLiving was closing out Blue Diamonds and got a replacement for 2/3 the going price--about double the repair cost. So I got a new one.
Meanwhile I've been buried in 3 serious projects:
1) Getting my mom's house cleared, cleaned-up, repaired, painted and staged for sale (it sold even BEFORE it went on the market--Folks, LISTEN to your staging expert! The idea is not how YOU lived in the house, but for them to see how THEY can live in the house).
2) Meanwhile, we were well into a major, MAJOR remodelling of our house when Mom decided to move to independent living and selling the house.
3) Changing jobs, both myself and my better half. I'm 3 weeks into my new job and loving it! But it's a big change.
But I look forward EVERY year to that first swim! Sometimes, it takes a wet suit, but I always LOVE it!

I'm here, too! My pool has been up and running for probably a month because we had days in the 90s!!! in March and I had to get circulating so it wouldn't turn green. Of course, it didn't stay hot. Cooled back down but is now warming up again. Temp is nearly 90 today. I'm gonna try to get my solar heat hooked up tomorrow so we can be swimming soon. I often have my pool warm enough to swim by Mother's Day. Hopefully that will be the case this year, too!
Good idea for a thread, Anna.

Yup, I'm still here, too....replaced my liner, love it, but my filter is a different story, right now my nice blue sparkly water looks a lot more like a mud pond because I'm trying to figure out why the filter pushes sand into the pool everytime I turn it on. Having the darned thing torn all the way down (again!) next week.......
Otherwise, things are good, water is 76-ish degrees, planning to start swimming at 80 if I can get the sand issue taken care of!

That'll teach YOU to hire Moe, Larry and Curly to install anything! I'm surprised the TV doesn't go on lock into The Golf Channel when you turn on the pump. :D

I'm still here too. I look at my pool every day and so far no green. Have had the equipment hooked up for about 6 weeks now and only a few nights have been below freezing but not long or cold enough to be of concern. Hardly used it last season and we'll see about this one. Too cold. Like the rest I do try and check in every day and like the other mods I have other things keeping me busy. I'm also hoping the forum stays alive for another season. Just wish it was open to new members but that's up to the owner. And for Anna, thanks for this great idea and starting this thread.
Wishes to all for a happy and safe Summer.

Like Al, we've had our pool operational for about 6 weeks but we haven't yet dropped the steps in it. The water is still way too cold for us to get in. However, the dogs have been begging for weeks so I think we'll put in the steps and let the pool make itself useful.
We redid the step weights a little this year. We emptied the sand out of the PVC tubes and filled them with Quickcrete. It's had plenty of time to cure. Each tube weighs about 25#; there are three inside the front bottom step and three more suspended inside the top step. We've experimented with how to hang the tubes with various successes and failures. This year, we'll try aluminum carabiner snaps.
It's getting warm here in Pennsylvania, o yay!

I always try to get my pool open and swimmable by May 1, but this year I was late. So today I hooked up the pump, plumbing and got the cover off (with my 15 year old's HUGE help--he's been "helping" since he was little, but actually helping since he was 9 and I was injured). For the first time ever the water was green. Being late and lots of rain, warm weather then cold, well, I'm NOT surprise. So.....lots of LC went in today and we'll see tomorrow!
I haven't bothered with the solar panel or solar cover because I want the water clear first.
Funny, the pool is actually very clean. Sure, there's algae but very little of the usual detritus.

I'm happy to say it's cleaning up fast. The water is now blue and the APC has come out black-bagged once and will again, and maybe a third time. But at least the water is blue and the FC is holding. 'Course I over-hammered it with LC because after 8 years I'm not concerned if it fades the liner a little.
When it's clean I'll put on the solar panels.

I check in often. We just got back from overseas and the pool is sparkling (some house sitters put in chlorine twice a week per instructions; I have a mostly opaque pool cover), but it's only 84ºF which is cooler than we'd like. Still need some warmer weather, but looks like we'll get that by mid-May.

First time checking in here. It feels good to be inside where it's warm. Outside it still feels like winter, the pool temperature climbs up to 68... and then drops back to 60.
One of these weekends I'm going to get up early (in the rain and fog), throw my new solar cover on the pool and clean the filter. Last year at this time we'd been swimming for nearly a month!
I know many of you already and hope you don't all decide at once to draw up a petition for my removal. I promise to be on my best behavior.
